How Do I Get My Website Indexed In The Search Engines?

Most Search Engines have a "submit URL" form you can use to submit your Website to their directory of websites. When considering the smaller local or subject specific Search Engines this is a good way to get listed. When submitting your Website to the Search Engines use your homepage URL for submission. One very important fact that needs to be addressed here is you do not need to submit your URL over and over again. Once is enough. You are simply wasting your time submitting to the search engines over and over again. Some of the major search engines do not have a "submit URL form" anymore. The reason for this is because the Search Engines can find your Website though links on other websites. We will go into this in a later paragraph.

Paying the Search Engines to list or index your Website URL? This in my opinion is a waste of your money. I am not going to spend too much ink on this subject because it simply is not a needed option. You do not need to pay to have your website listed in this way.

That is their job!! Just as the Search Engines find interior Website pages in your website they find your Website through links on other Websites.That is how the Search Engines work. When you submit your Website URL to these directories take the time to find the best category to list your URL in. Be sure to read the guidelines and rules. Finding the best and most applicable category ensures getting listed in the least amount of time. Take the time to find local and subject specific search engines when you are in this process of submitting your website URL to search engines.

Website URL Submission Services or Scams

I take a personal offence when I get a e-mail proudly announcing that some scandalous company is offering to submit my Domain Name to hundreds of Search Engines for a sum of $39.00 per month and they will resubmit monthly. This is a scam. If you are contacted by one of these companies simply hit delete. This service is not needed. They are simply bilking money out of innocent people looking to get their website indexed or listed in the Search Engines. If you find a Website Designer that also offers this service and they are out there, it indicates one of two things. One they know very little about Website Search Engine Optimization and the fundamentals of how the Search Engines operate. Two they are scammers and should be avoided at all cost. Read this paragraph again!
