My career path in life did not start out to be a website designer. I did not spend 4 years in college learning website design. Joomla Unlimited came to be by the way of hard knocks and bad experiences with previous website designers and SEO experts encountered while marketing several businesses online. I learned SEO and website design out of necessity and the desire to market my businesses online successfully. I have been in involved with marketing my own businesses for over 30 years. The last 10 have been businesses directly marketed online through websites targeting a national and global audience.

The Road of Hard Knocks........

In 1997 I started a subdivision of a currently successful boat repair facility in Portland Oregon transporting boats and yachts nationwide. This was my first need to market a business nationally through the Internet.
After satisfying my initial research into this field of marketing I hired a well known graphic artist-website designer to develop a website for this new company. I have to admit it was beautiful, in fact outclassing all my competition in the industry and was falsely lured into promises of success. The website received wonderful reviews from my competition and customers alike.

I quickly realized that the only people viewing my site were the ones I proudly sent directly to the website. I was realizing zero new traffic and sadly enough was realizing no benefits of marketing from the Internet. In a nutshell my website was out there in lala land and not in view of my prospective customers. My website could not be found and was not showing up in the search engines for any major keywords or keyword phrases targeted.

Not all Website Designers are created equal!

After initial research and study I had come to the conclusion that although my business website was beautiful, it had no horse power behind it. It was not designed with Search Engine Optimization or commonly called SEO into its structure or content. I had fallen into the trap many business owners fall into, having a website designed by graphic artists with no clue of marketing on the Internet, or technically structuring a website to rank well in the search engines.

I once again researched the SEO industry and hired a new webmaster with promised Search Engine Optimization skills. After close to $20,000.00 dollars spent in less than a year with marginal results I started studying SEO. I read everything I could on the internet and invested countless hours reading books on the subject. I quickly realized that I was involved with a company that had grand illusions of his SEO knowledge and skills. To this day I have not come to any conclusion of whether I was intentionally taken to the cleaners, or if he was just simply like a lot of so called SEO experts not nearly as good as he thought he was. I like to think the later. Quite simply by this time I felt I was competent enough in my SEO knowledge to take over the Search Engine Optimization and simply hire a webmaster to perform the nuts and bolts of managing my website. This is what I did. This arrangement went well. I started realizing immediate results with my website now ranked extremely well nationally for the main four keywords and numerous keyword phrases. I continued studying and applying my new learned skills, the results were explosive.

This arrangement worked very well for about a year. My costs were minimized to a bearable level. After about a year my webmaster’s business started getting bigger. He no longer had time to perform the monthly tasks I needed done. His rates went through the roof and to top it all off I started getting charges for phone calls! I could not believe this new company policy of his. My god this left such a bad taste in my mouth.

At this point in time I had had enough and once again started studying website design. I took classes in HTML and CSS. I started  going to Joomla classes held in Seattle Washington. I personally have probably every notable book on the subject of Joomla that is to be had! I already owned and operated a Joomla CMS website and was familiar with developing relevant content and publishing it.

I owned and operated a business directory and had several customers through my contacts that needed websites designed. I started taking on these projects and struggled through a few. One thing my customers were able to realize was excellent rankings and a great deal of traffic from the Internet. I had one customer that owned a RV dealership actually call and ask me “How do I turn it off”! He was getting so many calls his secretary was unable to perform her regular functions!

That brings us up to today. Today Joomla Unlimited is successfully in the practice of designing and developing Search Engine Friendly business websites that perform the way all websites should. Our websites are built with SEO in the basic structure and content. Each and every project we undertake is developed with the ultimate goal of developing new customers for our clients.
